Annual Report 2022
Our first Annual Report as a charity
The Encontro Street Band Festival is an unabashed celebration of street band music - by street bands, for street bands!
Our ambition is to build a strong and connected community of street bands throughout the UK and beyond. We aim for the festival to become a firm fixture in the annual diary of all street bands - whether we are able to offer performing slots each year or not. We warmly invite EVERYONE to attend the festival, and will do our best to provide free accommodation (sports hall floor, camping style - for those who want to join the party for minimal quids) as well as create opportunities for individual players to get involved in the weekend’s activities.
Applications to perform at the festival are now OPEN, and will close on 18 January.
We are looking for bands that delight and enthral, captivating audiences with choreography, costume and spectacle, drawing them in with warmth, humour and charm, involving and connecting with their audience to create street performances that are joyous, spontaneous and fun!
We invite applications from the full spectrum of street-performing bands – groups of any style that are suited to outdoor performance. Drum-heavy, brassy, percussion-led, vocal, dance-focused or none of the above - all genres, flavours and sizes of group are welcome.
We are only able to include around 20 groups in our 2019 street programme.
Selections of performing groups will be based on our aim to:
Any bands wanting to join us in Glasgow this year should fill out our application form.
